Successful pregnancy 10 years after triple cardiac valve replacement

Obstet Gynecol. 1981 Mar;57(3):386-8.

Abstract

A case is described of a term pregnancy in a woman 10 years after she underwent replacement of tricuspid, mitral, and aortic valves for rheumatic heart disease. Improved functional cardiac status after valve replacement made full-term pregnancy feasible. Careful prenatal management is essential in reducing fetal and maternal risks. Women with prosthetic cardiac valves and who have achieved good functional cardiac status can tolerate pregnancy and delivery.
